The National Trust Shop has a variety of earth-friendly options but we suggest their Zero Waste Starter Kit either for yourself or as a gift. The kit (£30) contains a number of reusable and mindfully sourced items to help you move away from wasteful single use gizmos. You will get a vegan friendly, cruelty free mint shampoo bar in a handy metal carrying tin, an organic cotton shopping bag, a bamboo toothbrush and toothbrush holder, a bamboo cutlery set, straw, straw cleaner, and a cotton pouch for keeping your items in. Other items in their sustainable range include a biodegradable pencil that you can plant after use, and a reusable washing bag to help cut down on microplastics being released into the water. Protect the environment and National Trust properties with your purchase.

Is It Really Green?

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering if it really is better to run that quick load in the dishwasher or to do it by hand, wonder no more. Georgina Wilson-Powell has the perfect book for you. In “Is It Really Green?”, Wilson-Powell sets out to help resolve your everyday eco-dilemmas. Which type of shopping bag is greener? What’s the most eco-friendly way to do my washing?
