Maps from Ordnance Survey
For more than 200 years, Ordnance Survey has been the place to go for your mapping needs. Even in these days of GPS, when I’m setting out on a lengthy walk, I like to have an OS map of the route tucked away in my pocket for reference. Until August 14th, they are offering 30% off subscriptions to their GPS system, which is just like having the paper map on your phone. Every map comes with the accuracy and detail you have come to expect from Ordnance Survey. But did you know they also sell outdoor gear, including tents, sleeping bags, and everything else you might need in your backpack? OS has you covered.
Holiday Getaways
There’s still time to escape the daily grind, whether it’s for a long weekend or a few weeks. And now can be a great time to find some deals on holiday cottages with Rural Retreats. The cottage to your right, Kites Holt, is in Devon. It’s more than 500 years old and perfect for a couple’s romantic getaway. You can also take Fido! Going with the family or a group of friends? Not to worry as there are plenty of properties with more space all across the country.
The Perfect Picnic
Even if you’re enjoying a stay-cation, you need to take time to enjoy a traditional British picnic. Blanket to sit on. Picnic basket filled with tasty goodies. Perhaps even a croquet set or another outdoor game. And don’t forget a handy tote bag to put it all in. English Heritage has a fab selection of everything you need, from recycled woolen throws (see left) to chutneys, wines, and even a rounders set. Has anyone played rounders since school? And, because we know how persnickety the weather can be, they also have a nice range of umbrellas!
