We’ve previously written about Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park as an ideal way to experience the majesty of the Scottish landscape. Now, an exciting day of events will cast athletic competition and fun against this gorgeous backdrop.

Go Swim Loch Lomond will take place on 7th September. Whether you are an experienced open swimmer or a beginner, the day features a range of water-soaked excitement. Events kick off at 8am with a 10,000m swim, but shorter distances are available (250m and up). There will also be a series of aquathlons for those who want to combine a swim and a run.

The stunning scenery of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs provides the backdrop to September’s event.

Organizers expect as many as 1000 swimmers to register for the event. They also hope it will draw attention to Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters. Next year will see a full year of nationwide events celebrating Scotland’s lochs, rivers, and coastline. British Food and Travel will have more details of that as it draws closer.

Richard Pearson, Go Swim Loch Lomond Event Director, said: “We are really excited to be able to continue the tradition of fantastic open water swim events at Loch Lomond. We know thousands of people have enjoyed the previous races so it is a fantastic opportunity to create something that replicates that experience.”
